Anyone know what kind of fret material these guitars use? I have played my two guitars steadily for months now. And so far have noticed no fret wear. Either I've developed a lighter touch or the frets are harder than usual. Over the years all my other new guitars with nickel-silver frets have showed at least some wear after only a few weeks of playing.

I'm pretty certain that all the Pac-Rim guitars us stainless steel fret wire, as opposed to the nickel -silver wire we are used to..I wonder myself if this has much of an effect on the overall tone.

I've been playing my T-170 since mid-August, and it does have some fret wear developing in the usual spots. They may be SS frets, I don't know, but they do seem very hard. The guitar just sounds better all the time. Really becoming a boomer, for a 000 body. The Wilkinson OB tuners really helped too. No tuning issues at all now. Very stable. |
