Getting it repaired seems advisable. With something inside to brace against extension. Perhaps even a little drill hole right at the end of the crack. Filled, of course, but spreading whatever stress caused the crack.

Hey thanks for answering Gypsy.
Does anybody have any more information on what the repair requires ? or more details. I'm guessing that part of this crack is under the neck block. |

I would take it to a guitar tech and have them look at. The first thing they're probably going to do is check to see if it's stable. If it's not, they'll probably removed the strings and go in there and fix it from the inside. You'll probably still see where the crack is, but they can get it stabilized so it doesn't cause issues.

News update: Well I took the guitar to Ed clark guitars here in New york. This is the same guy that did a fantastic job on my bridge re glue. He wasn't even phased by the crack and he said it was just a finish check. he said don't worry about it. Any thoughts on this ?

I'd say don't worry about it. The guy seems to have your confidence, so go with what he says.

Someone who has seen it up close probably has the best handle on the true condition of the guitar. Looks like you lucked out, nothing to worry about. Enjoy playing.

I would tap the back of the guitar with various forms of hammers, just to make sure it is really just in the finish.
That's what I would do. |

What Dave said. Sorry- forgot to use a smiley face.
Never smoked- it's natural humor. I have repaired a few cracks with strong wood glue that dries clear. Apply with clean finger, wipe off residue with damp, warm clean rag. Repeat. Honest- no smiley face. |
