How does the Tak stand up to Blueridge and Martin models? That is the question. I've read comments about the wider nut/fretboard...that is a very appealing feature for me...

Checked the archives and found some sound samples and one sale (now over). Anyone else have experience with this model. Guy at a store (Evansville) wants to
sell me one for $1499. Too much for me. I realize that's a good going price, but i'd have to let go of some cheap dreads I have and the Tak $100
rebate in a combined effort to somehow make it possible.

If you look hard you can find them used for under $1K. One of our members here sold a Bluegrass Tak for under $700 in the classifieds several weeks ago. No
personal experience with them as they are uncommon at the Tak retailers I've visited in NY but I know at least a few members here have played and owned
them. Likely more on the AGF. BTW here is the old ad I mentioned........
http://theunofficialbluer...8213.yuku.com/topic/4592 Apparently he deleted the asking price after he sold it but it was no more than $700 and in good shape.

Two of our members used to own this model...Pugsley (Jeff), and Lanaki. I think both have soundclips of them somewhere.

Got to finally seriously play one in the store Moday. Took some of my other guitars along to do an A./B comparison. The Tak is a great guitar, nice feel,
etc., but didn't have the bass I was looking for, esp at the price he was asking (I had serious bargaining in mind).
It just didn't do it for me. At least, now I know for sure... |

yup. the EF340SBG is a great guitar. my stanford PSD-28 simply blows it away though. of course, the stanford easily out-sounds any wood box i've ever
played.

Not to thrash the Tak, but I ordered a PSD10. I think that gives you a clue what I was (am ) looking for. Saw (and heard) too many convinceng audio and video
clips. Now, the wait is on...still haven't got a Fed Ex tracking #, so it will probably be awhile...the waiting is the hardest part (of course paying the
card bill is tough, too) as Tom Petty wrote...

Reason I asked this was because they are no US dealers selling Stanfords now, that I'm aware of. So how did you "order" it and through whom?

"I think he'll like it" Sure hope so! At the moment, shipment is delayed...I ordered a case for it, and the area supplier was out of stock,
so they are waiting for one from Ca. As Tom Petty says..."the waiting is the hardest part..."
There is a bridge defect on it. Apparently, the Low E is closer to the edge of the fingerboard than the High E. He says intonation is fine. Will have the local guy I met take a look at it when I get it. I wanted a Stanford and it seemed to be my best (only) option at the time... BJ/Indiana |
