Bless all of our great UBGF family, something to be truly thankful for on this Thanksgiving day. Sometimes I feel like we all live next door to each other.
Speaking of which, Roy, I want my table saw back.
You forget it and I'll forget it, but I'll remember it, and don't you forget it!

Great thread. I would have started something like this tomorrow if no one else did. Thanks, BJ and everyone......... Have a happy and safe Turkey Day!

Hopefully all the turkey will be of the eating kind, and none of our guitar purchases will turn out to be "turkeys"!

we enjoy turkey and fixin's here in the islands too. sure beats the jungle fowl.
jungle fowl are wild chickens that dominate several of our islands. they were introduced here back in the late 1700's when a seafaring captain presented a few to king kamehameha as a gift. the islands that don't have mongoose on them are overrun with jungle fowl. they (the fowl, not the mongoose!) usually don't make for good eating as they are fairly tough. i did some experimenting and came up with a solution though: grab a jungle fowl, prepare it for cooking as you would a normal chicken. put it in a big pot of water on the stove. put another pot of water on the stove next to it and place a large rock inside. salt both pots to taste. turn up the heat under both pots to a boil and keep replacing water as necessary. when the rock is soft, the chicken will be ready to eat. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! |

I've heard your island fowl recipe has caused starvation a few
times ......

Bit late but I hope everyone had a great day. It's not a public holiday
over here so we usually have our Thanksgiving supper at the weekend. I'm making the pumpkin pie today - yummmmmm!

I took home a couple pieces of pumpkin pie that my mom made, Lynn. They're gone! Might have to stop over and get more from her. What are moms for?

Well, technically I should be shot as a traitor for celebrating Thanksgiving at all.....
Most of my family don't like pumpkin pie but then they weren't
brought up eating it. More for me, I say!!!
Christmas is commercialized over here too but it's always blamed on "American influences"... Same with Halloween.! And it's usually said with a meaningful glance in my direction, as if it's all my fault.
