To wrap this up:

I finally had my guitar checked by a guitar tech yesterday, and he says the bulging is well within the limits of what is to be expected. He checked the 'belly' with a straight edge and found it to be low enough and not too unsymmetrical (the pictures I posted here are a little misleading in that regard, which became clear when putting a proper stright edge on it). He tapped the top on both sides besides the bridge and couldn't hear anything unusual. He checked the braces thoroughly with a mirror and they all sit flush with the top. In fact, he was rather satisfied with the build quality, no signs of leftover glue or anything.

While he was at it, he also checked neck angle and relief, found the former to be just fine, but the neck was basically straight, which had caused my action to lower a little over the last two months and actually caused some slight buzzing here and there. So he tightened the truss rod by a quarter turn and that brought everything back to normal.

I feel a lot better now! So, thanks again everybody for the advice.
