Thanks Pappy!

"Songs of the Old West"...... What a cool band, Dave! Looks like a nice early gig too....
. Wish I could be there. It's a bit of a drive from here in
CNY...... .
Hey I listened to all 6 of your songs. Do you use a steel guitar at all when you play out with Beargrass Creek or was that just for recording purposes in the Child's Cry song? Gotta love a good steel guitar!

Who did your artwork Dave? It has a 50's look to it and I think conveys the type of music you're going for.
Looks like one of those nostalgic collectable posters. Nice work whomever did the design.

kydave wrote: Yep..... Women have that creative touch with things like that (at least the good ones do ). Dobro is a fantastic sound for a band Dave. I've got a few tunes I'd love to get together with a dobro player on. Someday maybe......
BTW, do you mic the dobros or have pickups installed? Or do both (dual-source)? Ryan

Ryan,
I have Beard/Fishman pickups on both my Dobros, but I mic them as much as use the pickups, depending on the venue. Jerry just mics his at this point. My ideal concert setup for all instruments is a combination of pickup/mic. Dave Kentucky Dave's Martins: 0-18 (1959); 00-28H (2006 Custom); 000-16R (1999 Special Edition);

kydave wrote: Agree with you on that. Dual-source gives you better sound and versatility, especially in loud environments where feedback could become an issue using a mic alone. I'm guessing that you can crank things up louder than Jerry with fewer worries..... . You'll have to video some of your gig, if possible. Love to see you guys
in action!

Ryan,
I like the dual source because if you become careless for a moment in your mic technique, you don't have the instrument dropping out of the mains to the audience off & on. The PUP keeps a certain level of consistent sound and the mic adds richness and varied volume for leads and such. MaryAnn gave me a niftly little video camera for Christmas and I will try it out on a gig soon. Later, Dave Kentucky Dave's Martins: 0-18 (1959); 00-28H (2006 Custom); 000-16R (1999 Special Edition);

kydave wrote: Sweet! I'm guessing she got you one of the ones that records onto Flash memory maybe? I'm loving my Canon FS-10. It's even got a remote control and input for an external mic. It wasn't cheap though ($350). You can find ones for a lot less that are ample to get a halfway decent recording. The external mic option is great though. It's a keeper...... .

kydave wrote: Sweeter, Dave! I actually looked at one of the slightly higher end Everio models. (I think it was 555, something like that). It also had a mic input (like my Canon), but I decided it was a little more than I wanted to spend. 30Gb hard drive? I think you're good with that! That will make you some real nice
vids.....

I believe there's a compartment on the back of that guitar for a revolver. Is that a Smith and Wesson model?

I stopped carrying a .45 in my case when I moved to the "civilized" SF Bay area and the powers that be would no longer issue concealed weapons
permits, as they did in Northern CA and in Kentucky. Sigh.... better to have one and not need it than to - you know the rest.
