My Recent Gig- Burritt's Cafe' Playing the BR-70 |
Lead | |
|
Here is a short video (a bunch of quick clips) of my recent coffeehouse gig. I used my Blueridge BR-70 with a B-band A2.2 pickup in it. Sounds about as natural
as it would unplugged IMO. Love that system.. Hope the music is tolerable. I'm just a hacker......

Hey, Ryan - thanks for the clip! Looks like you had fun - and I thought it sounded good - howzabout an entire tune? I really enjoyed the variety of songs -
nice diverse playlist.

Thanks.....Sorry. Ya, I really cut those up to give an idea of what I do. I figured out what I did wrong and why the vid came out so dark. I'm going to
redo this when I get a chance. Thanks for the compliment, Ray...... It's a lot more fun when you have someone in there playing some lead and backing up
vocals, but so far these particular gigs have been solo.

Nice job, Ryan, and the PUP does a great job of keeping the acoustic sound. Great mix of tunes there, too.

You forget it and I'll forget it, but I'll remember it, and don't you forget it!

Really appreciate the compliments. Thanks so much guys.......
That pickup is the Bomb. It's very feedback resistant. No need for a feedback buster (soundhole plug), which means that the guitar top can ring openly and sound very natural. I'm very happy with the Blueridge B-band combo .
IMO, similar to using a mic without louder volume f.b. issues.....

Good job Ryan, I too would like to hear the whole tune of one of those songs. What is the name of that second song you sang? I have heard it before but cannot
remember the name.

Br40er wrote: Thanks SO kindly, BR40er. I will put together a song or 2 in it's entireity. The name of the 2nd song is in my words actually. Right Where I Need to Be, by country singer Gary Allan. A local country band I used to go see did a killer version of it years ago when it first came out, and it kinda stuck with me after that. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the song Someday (Steve Earle tune). Great song. They used to do a spectacular job with that one too. SO it's another I had to learn..... . If you like country at all,
the Steve Earle Essential CD has an outstanding collection of songs.......

Thankyou Jeff. I was happy with how it sounded. The audio was recorded with the tiny built in mic on a Canon Mini-DV camcorder. Burritts Cafe' has
exceptional room acoustics, which certainly helped.
OK. Here's part of 1 more....... I'm not very good at this and I made these files way too big...... .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8-xX9lp4I8 Here's an old Beatles 1 you may recognize- http://s537.photobucket.c...w¤t=NORWOOD.flv And the 1 that BR40er asked about........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIa6nqvsDl0 Someday (mentioned above)...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWx79LiCmVI OK I'm done for now...... Thanks again for your kind comments.

Sounds really good. What amp were you using? Is the b-band an under saddle pickup? |

Thanks guys.........

Bsorr. That song was made popular by Gary Allan back in '99 and it's off his album Smoke Rings in the Dark (another good song he did). So Geez, it's already been 9 years since then. Hard to believe, isnt it? Thanks. Glad you like it. That's Awesome...... Davo. The AMP was actually the house PA. I was plugged in direct to a mixer that runs into a power amp that powers overhead speakers. It's a pretty classy setup. The sound comes from above and the room has real good acoustics............... The B-Band A2.2 that I use is a dual pickup system. It uses an undersaddle pickup and an AST (soundboard transducer) which adheres inside the guitar under the saddle and acts as an internal mic. The blend of the 2 pickups is amazing and sounds incredibly natural with NO feedback. It has a volume and blend control that conveniently mount just inside the soundhole of your guitar (unseen). I love the system. Here's what it looks like, if interested....... http://www.musiciansfrien...u=306803&src=3SOSWXXA (Good customer reviews there and even better on Harmony Central).... I bought a couple of these systems thru Bob Colosi Saddles (Highly Recommended) recently. Bob has Excellent customer support and so does the B-band company...... The other thing I will add (Hope I'm not making this boring and overdoing it on information....Sorry) is that I have this system in 3 different guitars and it sounds VERY different in each plugged in. It captures the natural sound dynamics of the individual guitar very well, which is a great thing for a pickup to do. I'll bet it's one of the best on the market (if not the best)..... Just my opinion though.
Ryan
