Pappy's packing his bags and heading Souther! Snow flurries; and mid 20's tonight !!!! Possibility of 1- 3" of SNOW. 51 to 39 degrees Saturday; and grandson is playing a tournament baseball doubleheader in the morning! And it's only Dec.
4th I can't begin to tell you how WRONG this all is !!!!!!
Out, out, damn cold return to your frozen lair north of Dallas! Oh crap, I see snow flurries outside my window Guess that "value added global warming data" didn't pan out!
So many guitars....So little time.

LOL...a buddy of mine ended up working at the diamond mines in Yellowknife, NWT. 5 or 6 years later quit he came "out". When I asked him what he was
going to do now, his reply was.....
" I'm going to buy a pickup truck with a snow plow on it and drive south until someone asks me what that thing is on the front of my truck. Then I'll know I'm far enough south." |

This is WRONG !!!!! School's are closed, the Emergency Response Management team has been activated, people are getting off early from work, and it's the lead item on the local news.. The county is in panic mode; and I doubt if there will ever be over 1/4" on the ground. For those of us from up North it is kind of funny down here when it snows!

Damn that YUKU! I was unable to get on the forum all evening. Coincidentally it's just us "Northerners" who were affected. A few people from up here couldn't get on UMGF all night either. |

It's been raining steadily for two days here in paradise. For us that's almost as bad as snow, except there's nothing to shovel.

Edit- BTW...neat looking greenery there Pappy in the photo with the lawn chair. We have indoor plants like that but are obviously kept smaller. I don't have a clue what they are called for for the most part, I'm not good at remembering names of small plants. Give me a local tree however...........

All you northern guys may laugh at us, but the last few years ice has been a problem around here. I'd rather have a light snow that lasts a couple of days
than ice that doesn't melt. Last year we were out of power for 6 days. It wasn't terrible for us, since we heat with wood, but being without water was
a pain.

Actually Vic...you make an astute observation. Getting by without power is fairly easy if you have access to water. With water you can bath, eat, and somewhat
resume life but if you have no water, then things get interesting !
Oh...and thanks Pappy for the dump !. I'll never tease you again when you get a "skiff".

I think heating with wood made all the difference. People with all electric homes might have got a little cold. In my part of North Central Arkansas, we're
a long way from anything, so we get used to making do. Getting the water was the hard part. I got a couple of buckets from the ditch in front of our house to
flush the toilet with. I used to have a cistern that I kept full for watering the garden and that sort of thing, but I decided it was leaking and decided not
to catch water in it. Eventually, the National Guard brought a tanker to town, and everyone got water there. For drinking water, we could get it free at the
fire station. It made our little community look out for one another, and that was a good thing. Hope we don't have to do that this winter, though!
