That's great, Vic. At first I thought it was Buddy Holly.
You forget it and I'll forget it, but I'll remember it, and don't you forget it!

Nice, Vic! A young "lady killer" for sure. Definitely has a Buddy Holly look to it
.......
I'm afraid I didnt play any guitar at that age. I did take lessons for a short time but no pics unfortunately...... .

Never got the Buddy Holly connection 'till you pointed it out, Dave. I didn't know who he was at the time, but I'll take the compliment now. I
remember picking the glasses out myself, but I think Mom and Dad were glad to get a pair that were strong enough that a wild kid couldn't break.

This was made in the late '60s also. Damn, I wish I still had that guitar!

Very cool, Dave. What kind of music would you have been playing on stage at that time? Those pics definitely have the '60s look to them....
Nifty 12-string electric. What was it? I should know but I'm not sure...... Ryan

Interesting sound-hole on that 1 Greg. The headstock shape says it might be an ovation, but I'm guessing it was something else. The body looks like a
standard wood design....... How did it sound?

Ryan,
That is a 1964 Epiphone Riviera 12 string, back when the Epiphones were made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with the Gibsons. Great guitar! I was into the Byrds, Hollies, Beatles, Buffalo Springfield, Jefferson Airplane, etc. That pic was in Louisville's Central Park stage at a summer concert, probably in about 1968, give or take a year. Greg, You were into Gypsy guitars even back when? That is unusual, I'm guessing. What was your first guitar? kydave wrote: Ha! Ya.....I should have figured Epiphone by the elongated headstock. Neat guitar. The one Greg is playing..... I think someone had a similar guitar to it for sale here on the forum awhile back. The seller wasn't sure what it was at the time (nothing to go on. No labels anywhere inside or outside)...... Same shaped headstock, but it wasn't a slot-head. The sound hole was oval. I'll bet it was the same make. He deleted the pics after he sold it or I would post the link......

Ryan,
The Epi headstock on the 12 is the same as the equivalent Gibson 335-12 as far as "elongated" goes. Dave ![]() Kentucky Dave's Martins: 0-18 (1959); 00-28H (2006 Custom); 000-16R (1999 Special Edition);
