Anyone getting snowed in from the big storm that moved across the country yesterday and last night? We've got about a foot of the stuff here in NW Ohio and
it's not supposed to let up until noon or a little later today.They actually closed the plant today so I get a day off to do whatever.

No snow yet here in SW Florida, Ron. I'm hoping that this unstoppable global warming will keep us free of that.

We got about 8" yesterday as well as the complimentary sleet and freezing rain. The kids are doing the happy dance.

It was 75 degrees here yesterday, but it got chilly over night and dropped to a bone chilling 38 this morning!
Any more of this, I'll have to move farther south to Corpus Christi. Parodying the bandito (with stretchy pants) in, "The Treasure of Sierra Madre" "Snow, snow!, we don't need no stinkin' snow!"
So many guitars....So little time.

LOL Thanks Dave I needed that.
My son-in-law went to a Halloween party and he and his buddy got dressed up as mascara Mexican wrestlers complete with "stretchy pants", and we've been having this ongoing joke about it since then. I can't get the image out of my head!!!!! Similar to the one of you with a boa .... Yikes !!

Just got through dealing with an ice storm in my little town in north Arkansas. The town looks like a disaster area with all the branches down. Luckily, I
don't have any repairs or cleanup, but many neighbors did. We lost power for about four days, and are just now getting our water back on. I'd rather
dig out of a foot of snow any day than deal with ice. If there is anything good to come out of this it's that it brought our community closer together with
folks helping each other out. I'll admit I got a bit cranky, but after getting connected to the outside world again, I see that the folks in Kentucky got
it worse than we did. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.

I know about that no electricity thing during hurricane Ike down here. Sucks, big time. About the only thing that works in that case is a good ole' acoustic guitar.

Ryan...that would be the winter of '98. It really hit us hard here in Eastern Ontario. My parents were about 30 days before power was restored.
They stuck it out living at home but being "country folk" they had heat via wood stove, converted their hot water to work with the wood stove and thenused genny power to pressure up their water tank etc. I was lucky and was only out for 10 days. We had all the kids from the neighborhood coming to cash in on the big pot of soup that sat on the wood stove. During that time I saw the very best and the very worst in people. |

I remember the one from '98 Ter. It affected Watertown pretty badly, but really didn't affect us in Central NY. It was a mess up there though. The
one I'm thinking of was probably 5 or 6 years ago. That 1 may not have been that severe up your way. It's interesting how these tough trials affect
people. Some are super helpful and kind (grin and bear it) while others become pretty miserable, I'm sure (brings out the best and worst, as you
mentioned).

You're so right, Pappy, the old acoustic came in handy a few times. I guess all you Yankees are a bit more used to that sort of thing, but for us it's
a bit new. All seems well now, but other people a few miles north are still without power, and the power company says it will be "weeks" before
it's fixed. Glad it didn't hit us harder.
