I just want to play the snot out of my guitar and trust my ear! Speakers can help, but playing the tar out of your instrument works the best! Yes Ryan, that's what a pickup is used for, and going to bluegrass festivals!

Posts: 88 (01/21/09 05:12 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I've always thought that leaving your guitars on stands and playing music helps them open up. Good to see that my theory is confirmed. I recall another thread that was discussing the ways of measuring a signal sent through a piece of wood. Very interesting. Not easy to do when guitars are mass produced, but it just might be the key for custom builders. Am I right in assuming that those who listen to rap have the best sounding acoustic guitars? As far as pickups go, isn't that what you hope the delivery guy is able to do properly when he's bringing you a new guitar? Vic

Posts: 42 (01/26/09 10:27 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	One day i was sitting there tuning and decided to try and see if the tuner could pick up the not that my guitar top resonated at while i knocked on the wood a little. Sure enough it did and it consistently was between Gflat and G. It changed slightly depending upon where I knocked. This was also confirmed while my roommate was playing his electric bass. When he would play a high Gflat(same frequency as the lowest Gflat ont he guitar) the sound board would go nuts and vibrate like crazy. Now it being near G a coincidence or is it because I play bluegrass? I'm guessing bluegrass.

Posts: 89 (02/02/09 10:04 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Another thing I've noticed is that the closer I get to concert pitch the more a fundamental tone resonates. It happens on all the strings to some degree, but it's really noticeable on the little E. Whoever tuned the top did a good job. Vic
